Well, here I am, sitting in front of my laptop on a Wednesday evening, contemplating my next blog post.
I aim to post at least once a week. That way, I can keep up the momentum and, hopefully, not fail in the wonderful art of blogging.
Firstly, I had intended to focus my post on something else. However, I have now had a change of heart and want to concentrate on the art of blogging.
I don’t know about you, but the Yoast SEO plugin really focuses my mind when I am posting? I tend to start with the readability analysis and get a real buzz when I get a green button. Wow, this indicates that my ramblings are, in fact, readable! I do, generally, have to throw in the odd transition word, or two, to obtain the magical green button. Also, I am quickly learning to keep my sentences short and not to indulge my use of the passive voice.
The SEO analysis is, however, a different ball game. I find that the choice of a focus keyword is, excuse the pun, “key”. It is essential to use the right keyword, if you want to rank highly with search engines. Also, the meta description is important, if you want to attract people to your posts. I am always conscious that my posts should be a minimum of 300 words. Nevertheless, I am a great believer in quality over quantity. I always insert an image above my posts, which helps. Taking all of these things into account, I breathe a sigh of relief at the sight of the “green button”.
I would like to point out that I have not, as yet, been able to appreciate the fruits of my labours; my blog is far too young! Oh well, let’s hope I will be able to soon bathe in some successful SEO! Here’s to the wonderful art of blogging.
